I've been thinking a lot about failure lately. Not sure why. I guess as we move into a new phase of life, where we can consider approaching things differently, looking at a different way to live, perhaps different work. All of this will occur within an element of risk.
Risk comes from dealing with the unkown, and in a sense, dealing with failure.
First things first though, failure is indeed in the eye of the beholder. In a matter of months, we will be unemployed and without a home. Even though by choice, it would be fair to say we are not looking too great financially, yet, we will be succeeding in being a family, having space and enjoying an adventure.
This said, when we settle, there will be opportunities to fail. I think that is a good thing. I think we are too interested in things working straight up. No learning from mistakes, no first draft attempts- we deem those as failures and avoid them at all costs.
I think for us to succeed, we need to accept failure, step out in a big way and learn.
Embrace and celebrate the stuff ups. Then learn from it.
