Kids find life very easy when everything is going well. Take a football match, even a simple'game' at lunchtime. If they are winning then life is a dream, smiles are everywhere, they LOVE the game! Second half comes along and things start falling apart. The other side plays better, scores goals, takes the lead. For some kids, it all ends in tears from here. You see, they love the up side of the game, but haven't yet accepted and understood the realilty of 'the game' which is, that others are involved. Those others are part of the game, in fact, you can't play without them. You cannot enjoy the wins without accepting that the other side may have the same desires as you.
Same goes for refugees. You can't enjoy the standard of living that comes with cheap imported goods and a 'global economy' without accepting that those in 'the game' seek the same desires as you. So when I hear about foreigners taking our jobs, or 'boat people' vilified for having the audacity to try for a new life in this country, I can't help but think that people don't quite understand the hypocrisy of taking the good that comes with an international community, but taking no responsibility for the negative affects of the very same community. If you have a problem with said community, then get rid of your foreign goods and really buy local. No cheap clothes, digital technology, or home goods from around the world. Then you can enjoy your new standard of living and be consistent in your argument. If your not prepared to do that, then don't be the kid who doesn't understand the game. You just sound like a spoilt brat.
