Easy

'It is all there for you, see. If you click here the whole year's plan is right there for you to use, with each day organised for you.'
Sounds appealing. Everything layed out before you. You simply have to turn up.

What those presenting the easy way don't tell you is what you may lose. If you are simply following the plan you bring little of yourself to the table. You hand over your creativity, your input. That's ok perhaps when your learning something new. I was part of the building of a boat once, and read and re-read the instructions hundreds of times. I went throught the process following the plan step by step with no deviation.

The result was great. I was proud of our achievements. If I built another boat, I would follow the instructions, but perhaps without as much concern, or I may change things slightly based on my previous experience. If I became an experienced boat builder, I wouldn't go near an instruction manual. I would use my experience, my understanding, the sharing of ideas with others and my creativity. It may take longer than simply following the instructions, but my guess would be that the results would be far greater.

Yet you can sit in a meeting with people in a field whose collective practice and knowledge would had up to over one hundred years, with someone trying to sell you the easy option, the instruction manual. And the most concerning aspect was that people were being sold!

When do we learn that to be great isn't easy?
