Inside

There was a movie that came out years ago called Go. From memory it was a pretty good film where the same events are seen from different character's point of view. I remember a scene where a guy is hit by a car. Just run over. At the time the driver of the car seems callous, effective, ruthless. The windows are tinted, the car runs the guy over, then pauses, then reverses and drives off.

Later, we experience the same scene from the view point of the two people in the car, and the story is very different. I don't remember too much, but hitting the guy was an accident, the pause was punctuated by the two occupants freaking out, yelling and then getting the hell out of there.

That scene has sat with me because I think it is so true of how we often see others. We put on a show, pretend we know or can accurately guess the motives of others and base our actions on these ideas.

Problem is, often we guess the driver of the car is ruthless, when in fact they are freaking out. Or we guess they are freaking out when, in fact, they are ruthless.

On the other hand, we could be the driver of the car, Happy to be seen as ruthless when in fact, we are freaking out.

Working out the inside.
