4 year old logic

We were in Ikea yesterday and decided we needed a door mat of sorts for our tent. There were a couple early on in the maze you need to get through to get out of that store. These were cheap and were sold in black or red. Jack's favourite colour at the moment is red, so red it was. The mat was placed in his little trolley.

Further along, we found another mat which was cheaper and actually a better fit for purpose one than the red item being carefully looked after by my 4 year old.

"I think we need to get this one Jack." I stated as I picked up the blue, and greatly superior, mat.
The tears began.
"No, I like the red one. We need to get the RED ONE!!!"

What followed was an explanation of why the blue mat was in fact, the better of the two. There were better ridges in it to get more dirt off your shoes before you got in the tent, it was thicker and more durable looking and it was cheaper.

Jack paused for a moment and then said,
"OK Dad, we get the blue one."
With relief I replaced the red one in Jack's trolley. As we walked on, Jack looked at the blue mat in his trolley, then at me, and asked,
"But Dad, why would people buy the red one then?"
"I don't know Jack, I don't know!"
