Magazines

I read too many magazines. This realisation has come to me as we continue to slowly pack up the house. Piles of magazines have been collected from all over the house, with some discarded and others placed in boxes. Don't get me wrong, the magazines I read are great, from surfing to biking, to lifestyle stuff I steal from my wife- they are all top quality reads. I guess, that's the problem with magazines (insert books, web pages, blogs as it fits), they take you away on an adventure, teach you new ways of doing things, different ways to live.

The problem is, you can fall into the trap that the read itself becomes the adventure. So you extract yourself from your everyday, very safe life for 30 minutes on the couch and are taken away on a mountain biking three day journey through the French Alps, or live vicariously through the couple who took the gamble and started their bakery in an old factory unit on the Mornington Peninsula. Then you put the magazine down and get on with your very safe life, never giving any of the ideas that jump out at you from the pages a real life go- they just live for you in the July 2011 edition.

So I read too much and don't do enough. Got to begin to use the inspiration to set something off,

for real.
