Week in, week out, we place rubbish in the red bin, recycling in the yellow. We fill these bins and then, early one morning the trucks come and empty them. The kids love to see the trucks, with their lights flashing, lift the bins up and into the load.
And then they drive on. And we set about filling the bins again.
And then you may think, how much would 52 of these bins be? What would that look like? What if we got 52 times the whole streets rubbish? What about 52 times the whole towns? The whole state? The whole country?
I find it hard with two young kids. There's food waste, we seem to buy stuff with lots of packaging, we seem to go through a lot of everything.
Yet it's good to picture the combined rubbish we produce. It doesn't simply disappear.
We need to reduce our waste.
Challenge set.
