Frankie and I took part in the Jarradale 6 Hr, run by Singletrack Minds. The guys that organise these events do a fantastic job every time. The joys of enduro mountain bike races are many, the friendly crew, the fact you race with (or at least are passed by) some of the best mountain bike riders around, the individual challenge, the great single track.
The trail network in Jarradale is set to be completely signposted and mapped, with some extra features thrown in. There should be some working bee days, so if all goes well I will try to help out.
The course was a 10 and a bit km loop, with Frank and I going for one lap at a time. Great use of the many awesome trails in the area. The race went well- we were pretty consistent with our times and had no big 'offs'- all good. There is something special about those moments when you are balanced, moving quickly, hitting turns without washing off any speed, cruising over logs. You feel like you are in some kind of natural video game, things coming at you at speed and just flying through.
Pure fun!
