Break-ups

Some relationships are set like stone. That's not to say they are easy, but there is such a commitment behind them that as long as you keep them nourished, don't take them for granted and keep working, they will be maintained. My marriage is one of those relationships. Strong.

There are other relationships that, even though you put effort into them, you work hard at them, they always seem to be on the verge of toppling over. Whether they are with friends or family, work colleagues or clients, nothting ever seems to work. There is not a balance in what's put in. Or what you put in never seems to be enough.

The trick is to know when to let go of the relationship, to realise that the cost of keeping it becomes too much, for both of you.

Break-ups are hard. That's the stone that you  want to be strong, toppling over.

Sometimes though, listening to them crashing below you can be the sweetest sound.
