One thing we really realised when we were packing away our house, ready for the trip, was the amount of stuff we had accumulated over a very short space of time. We packed box after box of this and that, from clothes to toys, from pictures to electronics. Even after we had tried to de clutter, it felt like we still had more than we would ever need.
What a contrast it is, then, to be on the road with relatively little. A chemical garden sprayer as a make shift shower (thats Dougs for the great idea), a simple one pot gas stove, a 20 litre water can and -yes, fair enough- the “Taj Mahal” of tents. It’s not exactly a 3 by 2. Yet, along with spending quality time with those you love, this is keeping us very happy.
Makes you wonder what things in the boxes will bring extra quality to our lives when we ‘settle’.
I wonder how many boxes could fall off the back of the truck before it would be a bad thing?
