Cyclocross is becoming pretty popular in Australia, despite the the fact we (at least those in the west) have very little mud, which in Europe is an important aspect of racing.
Cyclocross racing is a short course, lap race where competitors race through a range of obstacles, from sand to mud, to hill climbs where you have to carry your bike, to log hop overs. Sort of a cross between Mountain biking and road cycling. The races are great as spectators (who usually consume a lot of beer) are close to the action and from certain vantage points can see most of the course.
A new series has begun in Perth this summer organised by the Perth Mountain Bike Club (see the link at the side), and I hope to make it to round two.
So, the other evening, I thought I would take my road bike slightly off road (really just over some grass!) and practise some running up a hill with my bike over my shoulder. I was also given a cool little attachment devise from Tony that lets you attach your camera to your helmet or handlebars. I thought I would try it out and finally, I thought I would try our new editing system to put together a short movie of parts of the ride.
A few new things put together...
