Your own perfection

Compromise is hard.
The presentation that you would like to spend another hour on but you have run out of time, the conversation that lasts for half the time it should because you have another appointment, the training schedule that gets set aside, the job that pays the bills.
It can all lead to you not remembering the last time you gave something your absolute all, where you found your perfection, as good as you can be.
I have run only one ultra marathon, a 50 mile race in Kent. I went out too hard, I suffered more than I thought I could ever suffer for the last 15 miles. I wanted to stop every 5 minutes, came up with thousands of excuses as to why it would be ok to sit down.
But I didn’t. I kept going. I left everything out there. Many finished in front of me, but that was not the point.
I discovered my own perfection.
And in doing so, I learnt what that could lead to.
