Night Rides

With Ricey visiting with the boys over the last few days it was an opportunity to head out for a couple of night rides on the local tracks. Having company is a great thing, especially when you could be out in the middle of no where, at 9 pm having crashed and injured yourself.

No injuries these last couple of nights, just some lovely riding on two beautifully clear and still nights. Night riding is a different experience. You don't see a lot of the smaller rocks and other obstacles, you tend to get a bit of tunnel vision as you focus on the track in front of you, and without being able to see too far ahead, it provides a real video game type feel.

We even spotted some wildlife, with 5 wombats crossing the path. A couple a little too close, forcing me to put on the anchors pretty fast. I mentioned this to someone at work today and they said that if you hit a wombat in your car they do some real damage. So I guess the mountain bike would certainly come off second best!.

Riding down the 500 metres of road back to the house last night I couldn't help thinking of what a great way it is to spend a night,

or two.
